Candida is an overgrowth of yeast that affects many different areas of your body. It can be vaginal, oral, rectal and also affect the folds in your skin. Even having certain scalp conditions can be related to an overgrowth of Candida. If you have a lot of rashes and itchiness from Candida there are many things that you can do to improve your situation.
Other symptoms might include digestion issues, such as gas, constipation, pain and more.
The first thing you want to do is change your diet drastically. Stop eating all sugar products, as well as eliminate gluten in your diet. You might start feeling worse before you get better because remember: Candida is alive. Candida will fight for life and you have to be stronger and stick to your diet to get rid of it and kill it. So avoid the following foods:
- Sugars and sweets of all kinds
- Cereals of all kinds
- Pasta
- Baked Breads
- Fermented foods
- Dairy
- Condiments with high sugar
- Smoked meats
- Mushrooms and other fungi
- Canned Foods with added sugars
I’m sure you’re wondering at this point what you can eat. Remember, you will get to add back foods when your system has killed off the Candida. So don’t panic. The foods you can and should eat are:
- Steamed low sugar fresh veggies
- Brown Rice, beans and oats
- Meats produced without hormones and antibiotics
- Raw Garlic and Raw Onion
- Fruit in small quantities especially berries and fruit that is tart
- Non yeast or gluten breads (yes they have them!)
In addition if possible, avoid antibiotics because that can make your Candida worse. If you’ve been taking a lot of antibiotics it could be the main reason why you’re suffering with Candida now. Try to work with your doctor to decide if you can do without antibiotics for a period of time to get your body back into proper balance. Doctors often give antibiotics for conditions that are not even curable with them. If you do not have a bacterial infection antibiotics will not help you. Antibiotics do not treat viruses!
In addition to avoiding the foods on the list, and avoiding antibiotics, drink a lot of fresh water. If you are drinking enough water, your pee should be light yellow to clear and should not have an unpleasant odor. After eating this way and eliminating your symptoms for about a year, you can slowly add a little of the forbidden foods back into your diet giving time with each addition to make sure you do not develop problems.
Honey is a gift from nature that has so many healing and healthful properties that when you think about it, it really is amazing to behold. Honey is a natural, never goes bad, (seriously it lasts forever!) and tastes delicious. If you are a vegan you probably do not eat honey because it is an animal product, but do consider, that bees are not harmed in producing honey, and they will not use all the honey they produce. Bees are needed in farming and honey farms provide a valuable natural service.
To get the full health benefit of eating honey follow a few tips:
- Buy local
- Buy unpasteurized
- Buy organic
White sugar is just something sweet with no healthful benefits at all, while honey has antibiotic properties, has natural vitamins, minerals, digestive enzymes and more. You can use honey in almost all recipes that call for sugar by substituting all of the sugar and some of your liquid for the honey. You can even buy granulated honey!
Honey does not cause the blood sugar spikes like white sugar does, plus it is a whole food. Honey also has many antibiotic and germ killing properties. There is even some fascinating research to suggest that honey can be used to treat antibiotic resistant staff infections. Rich in vitamin A, B2, C and minerals such as iron and magnesium, it even has protein. It’s really a “super-food” when you think about it.
Not only can you ingest honey happily you can use it on your skin to help heal wounds, sun burns, and help lessen the appearance of scars. Honey has been used since ancient Egypt, found in tombs (still useable too!) of kings. Other than the fact that you should not give honey to infants under age two, due to risks of infant botulism, (including products with honey in them) honey is almost perfect. Certainly adding local honey to your daily diet during menopause can help you eliminate white sugar, combat allergies, and be a quick source of energy when you’re feeling tired and worn out.
No, I’m not talking about that chocolate lava cake, when I talk about Foods that lift your spirit. There really are healthy foods that can make you feel lighter, happier, and of course healthier. The great thing is, these foods taste good, you can eat unlimited amounts of them, and you’ll only feel better. No really you can. Even weight watchers has removed points from all raw fruits and veggies which you can eat without limits.
Bananas — Eating a raw banana, or two or three can give you a lot of nutrients that you need that will pick up your mood such as: Tryptophan, vitamin B6, and glucose in a form that won’t spike your blood sugar. I know you’ve been told that bananas are fattening but you won’t get fat eating bananas. Much better than a mid afternoon chocolate bar!
Avocados — The type of fat in an avocado (monounsaturated) and vitamin B6 can help improve your serotonin levels which can improve mood. And yes, you can eat as much avocado as you want as long as you eat it in its raw natural state without adding anything that is not also raw, and plant based to it.
Celery – A popular diet food, and fully 95% water you can’t beat celery for a pick me up when you’re feeling down. In addition to sedative properties, celery has antibacterial properties too. Plus it has a really nice crunch too.
Oranges — The best thing about an orange is almost the smell, which will immediately lift your spirits before you take your first bite. You can juice your orange but it is recommended instead to eat them and don’t be afraid to eat more than one if you’re hungry.
I could keep going on this list but I think you get the idea, eating raw fruits and veggies between meals, or even in place of a meal will do more for your spirit than a pint of ice cream, the problem is most people don’t do it. So, give it thirty days, instead of eating processed, or sugar laden junk foods when you’re in a funk, try eating raw fruits and veggies in unlimited quantity. I bet after 30 days you’ll feel a lot better and prefer eating a juicy fresh raw peach over a peach pie full of processed chemicals and sugars because not only does fresh produce taste best, you’ll feel good too.
