Make Money – Sell Your Crafts

by De Marie

Do you spend a lot of time making crafts such as knit blankets, or bird houses, or pillows? (really anything) But you’re running out of people to give them to, or places to keep them? Well, you’re in luck. There is a website called Etsy.com where you can list your items and sell them. You can make money from the comfort of your home, selling your crafts. You can even make your own webpage, or sell on eBay.

There are benefits to selling your crafts. You can then enjoy tax deductions on your supplies used to create the crafts for sale, even if you’re running a hobby that you make money from. You do need to keep track of all your expenses and income even though it is a hobby and you cannot deduct more than you earn as a hobby.

If you realize you have something profitable you can become a business. You’ll need to check your local and state rules and regulations on whether or not you need a business license. Many require a business license and sales tax number even for hobbies so do check. You can usually find out this information on your city’s website or through the local chamber of commerce site.

Starting something new after menopause can be scary; you might feel like it’s just too late for you but let me tell you something, many women make it huge after the change. Many women change their lives completely because during any life change they start realizing that life is short and today is the day. It’s NOW or never! Now, surely you have lots of life left in you so you might as well do something that you enjoy.

You could start an entirely new empire. Women who reinvented themselves after 40:

Cesaria Evora – She found musical success after age 40 after a life of poverty and struggle.

Martha Stewart – She started as a stockbroker but found success as, well, the Queen of Homemaking of course, after age 40. She’s had ups and downs but she never let her dreams die.

Julia Child – A former government spy who went to cooking school in her late 30’s, you know the rest of the story but in short she never gave up until she was successful and she didn’t care what other people said about her.

Helen Mirren – British actor who is still acting and still earning the money well into her 60’s had her biggest breakthrough in her career after age 40. While it wasn’t a total reinvention, it redefined hotness for generations to come.
